Jackson Heights' free Summer Sundays concert series has one show left in 2026, and it is in November. The Javier Arau New Jazz Quartet plays modern jazz at The Queensboro, the restaurant at 80-02 Northern Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 1, closing out a season that began on June 28.

The series is produced by the Jackson Heights Beautification Group and is now in its 23rd season. Flushing Town Hall lists the concerts as free, running from 6 to 7 p.m.

How a summer series lasts until November

Summer Sundays has two parts. The core of it is Summer Sundays in the Park, the July and August concerts in Travers Park. A second track, Summer Sundays Plus, takes the music indoors to two neighborhood businesses, The Queensboro and Espresso 77, and stretches the calendar on both ends of the summer.

This year's Plus shows opened the season with alt-folk singer Dan Strauss at The Queensboro on June 28, then picked up again after Labor Day: Joe Abba's Funk Unit at Espresso 77 on Sept. 20, Gaston Kaisin's Tango Urbano at The Queensboro on Oct. 11 and classical guitarist Jack Marcin at Espresso 77 on Oct. 18. The Nov. 1 quartet is the last date on the schedule.

The summer in Travers Park

The park concerts ran every Sunday from July 5 to Aug. 30 and covered a wide range: the Jackson Heights Orchestra, La Cumbiamba eNeYé playing cumbia, the Mark Wade Trio, R&B and soul from Cody Childs, indie rock from The Lead Flowers, son jarocho from Guachinangos, Bangla fusion from BIM, the Ecuadorian duo Ximena y Alex and, to finish the park season, John Yao and his 17-piece big band.

Who pays for it

The Beautification Group says the series is funded by individual donors and by the offices of Assembly Member Catalina Cruz and Council Member Shekar Krishnan. It also receives money from the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, which Flushing Town Hall administers, and it thanks Flushing Town Hall and the Howard Gilman Foundation for support.

Musicians who want to play future seasons can apply through the group; applications for 2026 are closed.
