Flushing Town Hall is putting two bands on its stage on Saturday, Nov. 14, that would not usually share one: a Bollywood band and a Hollywood band. The evening, called Global Mashup: Hollywood Meets Bollywood, opens with a dance lesson at 7 p.m. and moves to the music at 8 p.m. Flushing Town Hall bills it as the first time these two musical worlds have shared its stage.

How the night works

The night starts on the floor. Amanjeet Kaur teaches the 7 p.m. dance lesson. At 8 p.m. each band plays a short set of its own, and then the two groups join for a combined finale that mixes the two songbooks. A Hollywood Meets Bollywood playlist is available on Spotify for anyone who wants to hear the material in advance.

Who is playing

The Bollywood band is led by Dr. Naren Budhakar on tabla, with vocalists Amruta Apte and Deepak Kumar, Srikar Ayalosomayajula on piano and Trip Dudley on percussion.

The Hollywood band is led by Ray Naccari, on piano and keyboards, and vocalist Dakota McLeod, with singer Keith Anthony Fluitt, Chulo Gatewood on bass and Greg Barrett on drums.

Tickets

Advance tickets are $30, or $25 for Flushing Town Hall members. On the day of the show they rise to $35, or $30 for members. The box office is reachable at 718-463-7700, extension 222.

The rest of November at Flushing Town Hall

The mashup is one of several music nights on the hall's November calendar. The New York Classical Players perform works by Larsson, Kevin Puts and Brahms on Nov. 5. On Nov. 11, saxophonist Carol Sudhalter leads the monthly jazz jam, this time built around music by musicians who served in the military; players of any level can sit in. The photography exhibition Portraits of America remains on view through Nov. 10, and on that date the photographers Gina Minielli, Jim Richards, Tony Gonzalez and Zachary Schulman discuss portraiture in a conversation moderated by curator Stephanie S. Lee. Also on Nov. 10, the AIA Queens Chapter opens its third Women in Architecture exhibition at the hall.
