Every artist in Stone's Throw has one thing in common: a $3,000 grant from a small Ridgewood foundation that funds artists only in the 11385 ZIP code. The exhibition brings together 20 of those artists at Lorimoto Gallery, 1623 Hancock St., from Monday, Nov. 2, through Sunday, Nov. 15.
The show is organized by the Tallichet Freedman Foundation, a nonprofit at 1618 Cornelia St. that supports visual artists in Ridgewood. It draws on the foundation's first two micro grant cycles. All 20 artists lived or worked in 11385 when they received their grants, and most still do.

The work spans sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, performance and design. The artists are Lillian Ansell, Steven Bukowski, Nickolas Calabrese, Marilla Cubberley, Hillary Gabryel, Kyra Gregory, Apolline Guillerot-Malick, Anne Hart, Amelia Heintzelman, Michelle Im, Maite Iribarren Vázquez, Emily Janowick, Monte Marin, Devin Osorio, TJ Proechel, Andrew Ross, Maíra Senise, Jeanette Spicer, Alina Tenser and Sarah Trigg.
A panel and performance on Nov. 14
On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m., the gallery hosts a panel discussion and performance with the artists, led by Sara Nadal-Melsío, a writer, curator and educator.
About the grants
The Tallichet Freedman Foundation gives unrestricted micro grants of $3,000 each to visual artists who live or work in 11385, the ZIP code that covers Ridgewood. The foundation says it focuses on hyperlocal support, especially for artists working outside the usual art world channels. Alongside the grants it makes filmed studio interviews with artists, holds gatherings and exhibitions and runs public programs. Its website lists grantees from fall 2024, spring 2025 and fall 2025.
The foundation's application for its 2026 grant cycle is open now, and details are on the Micro Grants page of its website.
Flushing Town Hall lists Stone's Throw as one of its Community Arts grantee events, with support credited to the New York State Council on the Arts.
