Church Street School for Music and Art on White Street has three evening events lined up in Tribeca between Thursday, October 29, and Thursday, November 5. Here is what is scheduled, with times, prices and how to get there.

Open Mic Night at Church Street School, Thursday, October 29

Church Street School for Music and Art holds its monthly Open Mic Night on the last Thursday of each month, and the October edition runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, at 41 White Street. Performers can sing or play with a live house band, read original work or try out comedy material, and anyone who would rather watch is welcome to come and listen. All genres and instruments are accepted.

Cost: a $20 cover at the door, with food and drinks included. The evening is sponsored by Copake Wine Works. Musicians who want to play with the band can sign up through the school's events page.

Draw, Paint and Sip, Friday, October 30

The next night, Friday, October 30, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the school hosts its monthly Draw, Paint and Sip session at the same address. A professional teaching artist leads each month's drawing or painting project and introduces new materials and techniques over the course of the year. The class is open to all experience levels, so beginners can take part alongside people who draw regularly.

Cost: $40 per person, with drinks and art materials included. Tickets are sold through the school's events page.

Tribeca Jazz Institute Jam Session, Thursday, November 5

On Thursday, November 5, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Church Street School hosts a jam session featuring students from the Tribeca Jazz Institute along with guest bandleader Marion Cowings. Visitors can listen, bring an instrument and sit in, or stop by for a drink. The school asks guests to RSVP through its events page. All proceeds and donations from the night go to Tribeca Jazz Institute scholarships, and the session is sponsored by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

The Tribeca Jazz Institute is a 12-week program at the school for pre-professional jazz musicians ages 18 and older, with admission by audition. Each semester includes three three-hour ensemble classes a week and ten one-hour private lessons, for 120 hours of direct instruction with working New York City jazz musicians. Enrollment is currently open for a winter 2027 semester running January 11 to April 2 and a spring 2027 semester running April 5 to June 25.
