The Center for the Women of New York is staging a Halloween show at its home in Fort Totten Park, and three nights are left. Witches Among Us: The Treacherous Coven runs Thursday, Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 207 Totten Avenue in Bayside.
The organizers are clear about what it is and is not. It is billed as a walking theatrical experience rather than a typical haunted house: guests walk through it in groups of up to eight. The story is set in 1692, the year of the Salem witch trials, and turns on a single question for the audience: who in the room can be trusted.
Tickets
- Thursday, Oct. 22: $10 in advance
- Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24: $15 in advance
- At the door, any night: $25
Entry is timed, between 7 and 10 p.m., and groups are capped at eight people, so booking ahead secures both the lower price and a time slot. Reservations are made through the CWNY website, which links to the ticketing page.
Before you go
- The show is indoors and runs rain or shine.
- It uses flashing light effects and includes stairs. ADA and other accommodations are available on request.
- It is a theatrical horror experience with mature themes, aimed mainly at teens and adults. The organizers advise parental discretion for younger guests.
Where the money goes
Every dollar raised goes to CWNY's own programs: workforce development, education and support services. The Center for the Women of New York is a nonprofit based in Fort Totten Park.
Getting there
Fort Totten Park is not on a subway line. From the 7 at Flushing–Main Street, the Q13 and Q16 buses run toward Fort Totten. The Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch stops at Bayside.
