Bed-Stuy's week runs from a sketching hour in a community backyard to an open stage at the Billie Holiday Theatre. Here are four things happening in the neighborhood between Tuesday, October 27, and Friday, October 30, each confirmed at its organizer's own listing.

Tuesday, October 27: Sit and Sketch in the Hancock Community Backyard Park

A librarian from the Macon Library leads Sit and Sketch, a mindful drawing hour outdoors at the Hancock Community Backyard Park, 324 Hancock Street, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is open to ages 13 and up, and materials are provided. Brooklyn Public Library encourages an RSVP through its calendar.

Thursday, October 29: still life drawing at the Dionne Mack-Harvin Heritage Center

The Fulton Arts Fair presents a still life drawing class with artist Gerard Pefung from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dionne Mack-Harvin Heritage Center, inside the Macon Library at 361 Lewis Avenue. Some materials are included, and participants are welcome to bring their own.

Thursday, October 29: Family-Fun Halloween Movie Night at the Macon Library

The same evening, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Macon Library hosts a Halloween movie night for all ages, with snacks, and costumes are encouraged. Families are choosing the film: voting is open until October 27 among Frankenweenie, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Haunted Mansion and Beetlejuice.

Friday, October 30: Skylight Open at the Billie Holiday Theatre

The Billie Holiday Theatre, at Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street, continues its Skylight Open series from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The series gives artists working in music, spoken word and dance a stage and an audience, and the Billie describes it as an accessible gathering space for the community. Registration is free through the theatre's Eventbrite page.
