Taquería El Chato now has a second address in Brooklyn. The taco shop, which started on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, is open daily at 347 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, on the corner of South Fourth Street, according to the restaurant's own Instagram page.

The new shop sits a short walk from the Bedford Avenue stop on the L train and a few blocks from the Marcy Avenue station on the J, M and Z lines. The Greenpoint original, at 620 Manhattan Avenue, stays open daily as well.

What El Chato makes

El Chato keeps a short menu built around tacos, quesadillas and vampiros, and its kitchen presses its own tortillas by hand. The Michelin Guide lists the Greenpoint shop among its Brooklyn restaurants, describing al pastor finished with red salsa and pineapple, chorizo with raw onion and cilantro, and the vampiro, a crisp fried tortilla layered with melted cheese and salsa verde. The restaurant notes on its Instagram profile that it received a Bib Gourmand in 2025, the Michelin designation for restaurants that serve good food at moderate prices.

The Michelin listing puts the Greenpoint shop in its lowest price band. Online ordering for the Manhattan Avenue location runs through the restaurant's Toast page.

From Manhattan Avenue to Bedford Avenue

The Williamsburg shop is El Chato's second Brooklyn storefront. Both locations sit on the main commercial streets of their neighborhoods: Manhattan Avenue is the spine of Greenpoint, and Bedford Avenue is the street most visitors meet first when they come off the L train in Williamsburg.

Hours at the original shop

The Michelin Guide lists these hours for the Greenpoint location at 620 Manhattan Avenue:

  • Monday to Thursday, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Saturday, noon to 1 a.m.
  • Sunday, noon to 10 p.m.

The restaurant handles its own bookings. Hours for the Bedford Avenue shop are posted on El Chato's Instagram page, which lists both locations as open daily.
