The St. George Theatre has a Halloween double bill this week, one night for kids and one very much not. On Friday, Oct. 23, it stages Frankenstem Returns: The Musical, a Halloween science show for children. On Saturday, Oct. 24, it screens The Rocky Horror Picture Show, preceded by a live set from The Flesh Junkies and a Time Warp costume contest.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Saturday
Doors open at 8:30 p.m. The Flesh Junkies, which the theatre describes as a local zombie punk cabaret band, play at 9 p.m. The Time Warp dance and costume contest follows at 9:45 p.m., and the film starts at 10 p.m. General admission is $25, or $20 for theatre members, and each ticket includes a prop bag while supplies last. The screening is part of the theatre's 2026 Better on the Big Screen series, sponsored by Williams Eye Works and Richmond University Medical Center.
Frankenstem Returns: The Musical, Friday
Written and directed by Diane Zerega, Frankenstem is a Halloween show that builds science, technology, engineering and math into the story for young audiences. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets run $20 to $30, with $5 off for members.
At the St. George Library Center
The library at 5 Central Avenue has free programs early in the week: Teen Movie Monday and a bilingual Little Learners music session, both on Monday, Oct. 19, at 3:30 p.m., and the Adult Writing Workshop Series on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m.
Getting there
The St. George Theatre is at 35 Hyatt Street, a few minutes' walk uphill from the St. George Ferry Terminal, where the Staten Island Ferry, the Staten Island Railway and the borough's bus hub all meet. The free ferry makes a Manhattan round trip possible for either show. The box office is at 718-442-2900.
