Skinny Louie, the smash-burger chain that started in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood, has opened its first location in Brooklyn at 218 Flatbush Avenue in Park Slope. The company calls it its first spot across the bridge, following its Manhattan shops in NoMad and the Penn District.

What is on the menu

The menu is short. There are three smash burgers: the Skinny Louie Cheeseburger, the Classic and the Applewood Bacon, all made with fresh Black Angus beef. An Impossible patty and a gluten-free bun are available for any of them. Fries and sodas fill out the meal, and there are three milkshakes: cookies and cream, choco brownie and strawberry bliss.

Late hours

The Park Slope shop keeps late-night hours: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Orders can be placed in person or online through the chain's site, and the shop's phone number is 786-750-1729.

Where it came from

Skinny Louie opened its original shop at 322 NW 24th Street in Wynwood, and has since added locations around Miami and Fort Lauderdale, including stands inside the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat. In New York it runs shops at 1145 Broadway in NoMad and 242 West 34th Street in the Penn District.

Getting there

218 Flatbush Avenue is a few blocks south of the Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr station. The 2 and 3 trains stop at Bergen Street, and the B and Q at Seventh Avenue.

The shop is open now, daily from 11 a.m.
