Round1 Bowling & Arcade is now open at The Shops at Skyview in Flushing, the first New York City location for the Japanese entertainment chain. The company's page for the new location bills it as Round1's New York City debut and lists the address as 131-07 40th Road, Suite C01, on Level 3 of the mall's West Retail building, reached through the parking lot.
Round1 lists daily hours of 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. The company notes that the venue is in a soft opening period, so hours may shift and there may be temporary closures while the staff settles in. Anyone planning a group outing in the next few weeks should check the location page before heading over.
What is inside
The Flushing location offers the core Round1 lineup: bowling, billiards, ping pong, pickleball, private karaoke rooms, party rooms, an arcade floor and the Victory Zone, the chain's prize redemption area. Round1 is known for its Japanese-style crane and claw machines, and the arcade also has ticket and redemption games. Points earned on redemption games can be traded in at the Victory Zone prize room for plush toys, electronics, accessories and collectibles.
The bowling side includes cosmic bowling with glowing lights, dragon-shaped ramps that help small children roll the ball, and lighter, kid-friendly bowling balls. Shoe and ball rentals are available at the counter. Karaoke rooms are booked by the hour and include Japanese songs in their music library.
What it costs
Round1 posts its price tables for the Flushing store online. Bowling is priced either by the lane or by the person, with a maximum of six people per lane. On Monday through Thursday before 4 p.m., one game is $8.75 per person and two games are $15.25, while an hour on a lane is $34.25. Rates rise in the evening and on weekends, when one game runs $10.75 per person and an hour on a lane is $45. Shoe rental is a separate $5.25 per person, and seniors 55 and older and military members get $2 off shoes.
Billiards tables start at $10 an hour and ping pong tables at $9.50 an hour on weekday daytimes, rising to $17 and $16.50 on weekends. Pickleball is priced per 30 minutes, from $7.99 on weekday daytimes to $9.99 on weekends. Karaoke rooms are priced per hour by group size; a room for one to three people is $16 an hour on weekday daytimes, and larger rooms for groups of up to 50 are available. Seniors and military members get an extra 10 minutes free on tables and rooms, and Round1 club members save $1 on several activities.
Late hours at Skyview
The Shops at Skyview sits on the western edge of downtown Flushing, near College Point Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue. Round1 takes a large space on the third level, giving the mall an indoor activity destination that runs late into the night, well after most stores close. For families in Flushing, Murray Hill and the surrounding blocks, it adds a rainy day and winter option within walking distance of Main Street.
Round1 began in Japan and now operates dozens of locations across the United States, from California and Texas to New Jersey and Long Island. Flushing joins that list as the company's only location within the five boroughs.
Getting there
The 7 train's last stop, Flushing-Main St, is a short walk east of the mall, and the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch stops at Flushing-Main Street station nearby. Many Queens bus routes that serve downtown Flushing stop along Roosevelt Avenue and Main Street. Drivers can use the Skyview parking garage, and Round1's directions point visitors through the parking lot to the Level 3 West Retail entrance.
