The Rink at Rockefeller Center is open for the 2026 to 2027 season, and this one is its 90th. People have been skating on the plaza at Rockefeller Center since 1936, and Rockefeller Center is marking the anniversary with a run of rinkside 90th Anniversary Lodges alongside its usual Holiday Chalets. General skate tickets start at $22 for a 60-minute session.

Hours and tickets

The Rink is open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight, according to Rockefeller Center, though hours shift around holidays and special events, and the ticket calendar is the place to check a given day. Every person who enters the rink level needs a ticket, including parents who are only watching; non-skating chaperone tickets are sold for that.

  • General Skate, from $22. Admission and a 60-minute session on the ice.
  • VIP Skate, from $131. A 60-minute session with priority entry, skate rental and access to a heated VIP lounge with warm drinks.

Sessions are timed from your scheduled entry, and if the ice is resurfaced during your hour, up to 20 minutes is added. Rockefeller Center asks skaters to arrive no more than 10 minutes early. Late arrivals can still go in, but the session is not extended. Sales are final, though a reservation can be moved up to 24 hours ahead, subject to availability and any price difference. The rink runs outdoors in most weather; in severe weather sessions can be delayed or canceled and tickets rescheduled.

Chalets and the 90th Anniversary Lodges

For groups who want to stay off the ice, Rockefeller Center rents private Holiday Chalets and, this season, 90th Anniversary Lodges at the edge of the rink, with views of the ice and of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree once it is up, and seasonal food and drink served inside. Both are booked through the rink's chalet page. Private skating and event rentals are handled separately.

Ninety years in one plaza

The skating tradition is younger than the tree that now stands over it. Rockefeller Center traces the tree to December 1931, when construction workers on the site put up a 20-foot tree and decorated it on Christmas Eve with strings of cranberries and paper garlands. The rink followed in 1936, and the two have shared the plaza between Fifth and Sixth Avenues ever since.

Before you go

  • Children under 6 must skate with an adult, and children 7 to 13 must be supervised. Children cannot be carried on the ice.
  • Phones, cameras and personal belongings are not allowed on the ice. Complimentary lockers are available for small items.
  • Bring your own skates or rent a pair on site.

Getting there

The skater entrance is on the Rink Level under 30 Rock, next to Daily Provisions, reached from 49th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, with elevators at street level on both 49th and 50th Streets. The B, D, F and M trains stop at 47-50 Streets-Rockefeller Center, a block away.

The Rink is open now, daily from 9 a.m. to midnight. Book a General Skate from $22 or a VIP Skate from $131 on Rockefeller Center's rink page, and reserve a chalet or anniversary lodge there too.
