Lightscape, the winter light trail that turns Brooklyn Botanic Garden into an after-dark walk, returns on Friday, Nov. 20, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2027. The garden says this year's edition follows a new trail, starting and ending at the Visitor Center at 990 Washington Avenue on the Prospect Heights side of the grounds.

Tickets are sold through the garden's site, with prices set by night: value, off-peak and peak. Every price includes fees.

What it costs

  • Adults: $29 on value nights, $39 off-peak, $44 peak
  • Children 3 to 11: $15 value, $22 off-peak, $28 peak
  • Garden members: $29, $33 and $37 for adults; $15, $17 and $20 for children
  • Babies up to age 2: free

Value nights carry the lowest price on the calendar, so a family of four that books one pays $88 rather than the $144 a peak night costs.

Special nights on the calendar

The garden has set aside several nights for particular audiences:

  • 21+ nights on Thursday, Dec. 10, and Thursday, Dec. 17, for adults only.
  • Sensory-friendly early entry at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 18, designed for visitors who want a sensory-friendly experience.
  • A family benefit night on Tuesday, Dec. 8, which supports the garden.

How the evening works

Entry is by timed ticket, with start times staggered through the evening. During the run, the garden closes to daytime visitors at 3:30 p.m. every day. Anyone planning a regular daytime visit between Nov. 20 and Jan. 3 should arrive early.

The route begins and ends at the Visitor Center on Washington Avenue. The walk is outdoors in December weather, so dress for an evening in the cold.

Getting there

The garden lists three subway options. The 2 and 3 stop at Eastern Parkway–Brooklyn Museum, a short walk from the Washington Avenue entrance. The 4 and 5 stop at Franklin Avenue, which has no elevator. The B, Q and S stop at Prospect Park, near the garden's Flatbush Avenue entrance at 455 Flatbush.

Before you go

Book through the garden's Lightscape page, pick a value night if the date is flexible, and check the garden's site on the day for any weather changes.
