A Bronx concert hall has a new name at the top of its staff list. Dante Albertie is executive director of the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on the Lehman College campus in Bedford Park, and the season on its calendar now runs from an R&B concert this Saturday to a hip-hop show in late May.

Who is running the hall

Albertie's full title at Lehman College is executive director of performing arts and event venues, which puts the college's other performance spaces under him as well. He founded and directs Lehman Stages, the college's professional performance and rehearsal facilities, which the college says serve about 70,000 people a year through rentals, production services and programming. Before that he was artistic director and a co-founder of the Belmont Playhouse in the Bronx, where he directed premieres and a production that moved Off-Broadway, and he was administrative director at Theater for the New City in the East Village. He has been recognized for his work in Bronx cultural life by the Bronx Arts Ensemble and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
