K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel has opened its Dumbo location at 295 Front Street, giving Brooklyn dog owners a new place for overnight boarding and daily daycare a few blocks from the York Street F station. The resort is now taking bookings online and by phone at (929) 201-7640, with grand opening discounts posted on its site.

What is inside

K9 Resorts is a national chain of dog boarding and daycare facilities, and the Dumbo building follows the company's resort format rather than a traditional kennel layout. According to the location's own pages, the facility includes private suites and compartments, climate-controlled indoor play spaces, secure outdoor yards where dogs run and socialize under staff supervision, and a cleaning program that uses hospital-grade disinfectants and air purification.

Dogs in daycare are grouped by size, and the resort offers three daycare tracks: large dog daycare, small dog daycare, and individualized daycare for dogs that do better with one-on-one attention from staff. Boarding guests can choose all-day group play or individual playtime as part of their stay.

Rooms and prices

Boarding at K9 Resorts Dumbo is priced per day and includes meals (the resort serves Blue Buffalo food) and play. The posted rates are:

  • Traditional Standard, $89 per day: for one dog or puppy up to 35 pounds.
  • Traditional Double, $99 per day: one dog up to 100 pounds, or two dogs from the same household up to 35 pounds each.
  • Executive Rooms, $129 per day: cage-free private rooms of roughly 5 by 7 feet with Kuranda dog beds, for one or two dogs.
  • Luxury Suites, $159 per day: cage-free suites of about 8 by 8 feet, fully enclosed for sound, with the company's own CloudBed and in-suite Dog TV.

Daycare starts at $55 for a full day and $43 for a half day, with lower per-day rates for packages of 10, 20 or 40 days. Individualized daycare starts at $62 per day. A second dog sharing a room gets 20 percent off, and the resort lists a discount for military members and first responders.

Add-ons include a bath ($45), a waterless bath ($20), an upgraded bed ($15), extra personal playtime ($15), doggie ice cream ($6) and gourmet treats ($4). The resort's pricing page notes that a bath is required for any dog boarding two days or more. Check-out is 12:30 p.m., and later pickups carry a $55 fee.

The Founders Suite

One room at the Dumbo location is unlike the rest of the building. The Founders Suite, listed at $1,000 per night with a three-night minimum, is offered only at K9 Resorts Dumbo and must be booked by calling the resort. The suite has gold wallpaper and a crystal chandelier, and a stay includes private chauffeured transportation to and from the resort, in-suite meals of filet mignon and handcrafted ice cream, a sleep menu of ambient sounds such as ocean waves and forest wind, enrichment sessions including K9 Fit Play and an LED therapy mat, and a French bath with brushing and a blowout on checkout day.

Guests also leave with a portrait of their dog wearing an 18-karat white-gold, diamond-encrusted collar from London Jewelers, along with Les Poochs fragrance, Wagyu treats and a dental care set.

Grand opening specials

To mark the opening, K9 Resorts Dumbo is offering 25 percent off 5-night or 10-night boarding packages and 50 percent bonus daycare days. The resort says the offer is locked in by creating an account through its grand opening page. The company describes these as its lowest rates to date at the location.
