Long Island City's Halloween week has three free or low-cost stops on the Long Island City Partnership's 2026 calendar: a Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebration at LaGuardia Community College on Wednesday, October 28, a car-free trick-or-treat on Vernon Boulevard on Saturday, October 31, and a trunk-or-treat for Make-A-Wish on the same afternoon.
Saturday, October 31: LIC Trick-or-Streets on Vernon Boulevard
Vernon Boulevard will close to traffic between 46th and 50th Avenues from 3 to 5 p.m. on Halloween for LIC Trick-or-Streets. The Long Island City Partnership and the LIC Business Improvement District are hosting it with Manducatis Rustica VIG and other partners, and local businesses along the strip are handing out treats.
The Only Bay All Stars, a local band, play at 4 p.m. The Partnership's 2026 page also names GB's Juke Joint, Town and Gardens and Velvet Turtle Events among the partners. Businesses can still sign up to appear on the event's trick-or-treat map.
The 7 train stops at Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av at 50th Avenue, at the south end of the closure.
Saturday, October 31: Trunk-or-treat at Culture Lab LIC
Earlier the same afternoon, Culture Lab LIC at 5-25 46th Avenue holds a trunk-or-treat from 2 to 5 p.m. with a magic show, face painting and pumpkin decorating. Entry is $25 per family, and free for families who decorate a car trunk. Proceeds go to Make-A-Wish, according to the Partnership's listing. Culture Lab is a block from the start of the Vernon Boulevard closure, so the two events line up for one afternoon.
Wednesday, October 28: Halloween and Día de los Muertos at LaGuardia
LaGuardia Community College, at 45-50 Van Dam Street, is holding a Halloween and Día de los Muertos Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28. The Partnership describes a block-party afternoon with music, entertainment, treats and family activities honoring Día de los Muertos traditions, open to all. The listing does not name a price.
Día de los Muertos, observed on November 1 and 2, is the Mexican tradition of honoring family members who have died, with altars, marigolds and food. LaGuardia's campus sits near the Queens Plaza and 33rd Street-Rawson Street stations; the 7 stops at 33 St-Rawson St, a few blocks north.
