Trinity Church at Broadway and Wall Street has four free concerts on its calendar over the next ten days, starting with a lunchtime jazz set on Wednesday, Oct. 28, that marks the 100th birthdays of John Coltrane and Miles Davis, and ending on Wednesday, Nov. 4, when British conductor Jane Glover leads Mozart's Mass in C minor in the evening. In between come a Sunday night service of new music at St. Paul's Chapel and a midday Bach program.

All four are free. Trinity asks people to register in advance through Eventbrite because seating is limited, and it recommends arriving about 45 minutes early. Seats are first come, first served, with registered guests given priority, and entry is not guaranteed once the church is full.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: Coltrane and Miles at 1 p.m.

The weekly Jazz at One series brings in the Jazz House Collective, presented with JAZZ HOUSE KiDS, the New Jersey nonprofit that trains young jazz players. The one-hour program follows a line of sound through the work of Coltrane and Davis, both born in 1926. Trinity has posted a concert program on the event page for those who want to see the set list ahead of time. The concert runs 1 to 2 p.m. at Trinity Church, 89 Broadway.

Sunday, Nov. 1: Compline by Candlelight at St. Paul's Chapel

Compline by Candlelight is Trinity's Sunday evening sung prayer, normally a 30-minute service. This week's edition, titled A Haven, runs 45 minutes and moves to St. Paul's Chapel at Broadway and Fulton Street. Composer John Glover, pianist Adam Tendler and baritone Michael Kelly join the Trinity Choir in a piece built from words people sent in earlier this month, describing places that made them feel safe, people who made them feel seen and songs that made them feel they belonged. The service is 7 to 7:45 p.m. Trinity's event page does not list a registration requirement for this one.

Wednesday, Nov. 4: Bach at lunch, Mozart after work

At 1 p.m., the Trinity Baroque Orchestra, led from the organ by Avi Stein, plays Bach's Italian Muses, a program of music by Antonio Vivaldi and other Italian composers alongside the arrangements Bach made of their concertos for his own ensembles. It runs one hour.

At 6:30 p.m., Jane Glover conducts Downtown Voices, the Trinity Choir and NOVUS, Trinity's new-music orchestra, in Mozart's Mass in C minor. Mozart never finished the mass, and Trinity will perform a completed version of the score. The concert runs until about 7:45 p.m. Because it is an evening program with a large chorus and orchestra, this is the one most likely to fill up, so registering early is a good idea.

Later in November

The free Wednesday series continues on Nov. 11 with vocalist Georgia Heers at Jazz at One. On Sunday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m., the Trinity Youth Chorus and NOVUS perform Vivaldi's Gloria and Mozart's Sparrow Mass. On Nov. 18 at 1 p.m., the Trinity Choir pairs Marianna Martines's Dixit Dominus with several short Mozart works. Handel's Messiah follows in early December.
