Flushing Town Hall celebrates Diwali on Sunday, Nov. 1, by inviting the audience to a wedding. Diwali Festival: The Indian Wedding runs from noon to 4 p.m. at 137-35 Northern Boulevard, with hands-on workshops in the first half and a dance drama in the second.

Workshops, noon to 2 p.m.

The workshops run only during the first two hours, so families should arrive at noon. Chef Nupur Arora leads a cooking demonstration, Bela Beauty Henna does henna, Srijan Dance Company teaches dance, Josh Roychowdhury leads rangoli, Alka Mukerji, PhD, teaches block printing and Jasbir Bhatia teaches Hindi calligraphy.

The Indian Wedding, 2:15 p.m.

Abha B. Roy and Srijan Dance Company perform a dance drama that walks through the customs of a wedding: henna for the bride, the haldi ceremony in which turmeric is applied to the couple, dances from different regions of India, the ceremony itself and the bride's farewell to her family. The bridal party arrives with a tassa drum procession, and the audience takes the part of the wedding guests.

Food

Queens Curry Kitchen sells Indian food and drinks from noon to 4 p.m. The festival is sponsored by the Guru Krupa Foundation.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for member adults. Children are free.
