The original Kneehigh/Emma Rice Company production of Tristan & Yseult is coming back to St. Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO. It runs November 1 through 22 at the theater's home at 45 Water Street, and St. Ann's says the show returns to its stage after years of touring the world.

Rice adapted and directs the production. Carl Grose and Anna Maria Murphy wrote it. It is the medieval love story of Tristan, sent by King Mark of Cornwall to bring home his Irish bride-to-be, Yseult, and of the two falling in love on the way.

What the show is

Rice sets the story in a place the production calls the Club of the Unloved. A live band plays new and found music throughout, with a nod to Wagner, and the lovers' story is told partly through low-fi aerial acrobatics. St. Ann's describes the production as one that has drawn reviews for more than 20 years and influenced a generation of theater-makers.

The show runs 2 hours and 10 minutes, including an intermission. St. Ann's lists it as suitable for adults and children 8 and older, and no one under 5 is admitted. The production uses haze, fire effects and flashing lights, and includes depictions of sex and self-harm.

St. Ann's fall season

Tristan & Yseult is part of St. Ann's Warehouse's 2026 to 2027 season, which also lists Kramer/Fauci, Saigon and Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi, the parade of life-size buffalo puppets that opened the season in September.

Tickets

Tickets are sold through the St. Ann's Warehouse calendar online and by phone at (718) 254-8779, Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., plus two hours before evening and weekend performances. In-person ticket services open one hour before each show.

Two lower-cost routes are available for most shows. A ticket lottery runs through TodayTix, with entries opening at noon the day before a performance and closing at 5 p.m. Standby tickets go on sale one hour before showtime when seats are available, cash only and exact change, with a limit of two per person.

St. Ann's also says tickets bought outside its official channels may be reviewed, and orders flagged as suspicious can be canceled if the buyer does not confirm within three business days, so buying direct is the safer route.
