Domino Park's annual Woof-o-ween is this Sunday, Oct. 25, and it is free. From 1 to 4 p.m., dogs in costume and the people who dressed them gather at the Fountain and Seating Steps on the Williamsburg waterfront for a costume contest judged by local dog accounts.
The schedule
- Noon to 1:30 p.m.: Registration for the costume contest at the Domino Park tent.
- 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: The dogs, and their humans, walk the contest.
- 3 p.m.: Winners announced.
Costumes can be imaginative, cute or spooky. Registration is at the tent on the day, and the park asks people to RSVP through its events page.
The judges
The panel is made up of Williamsburg dog people: Zey Oz of @yeswilliamsburg, Taryn Berman and Remy of @remyfrombk, Dominika of @godoggyny, Shelby Garcia of @dominoparkdogpark and Briarley Laban of @dayseestudio. Must Love Dogs and Comedy is emceeing.
Prizes and free things
Prizes come from local businesses. Human winners get gift cards to Birdee and to Dandy Wine and Spirits, and dog winners get swag from Pupp St and a pet portrait session at Daysee Studio.
Around the contest:
- Get Joy, which makes gut-health meals, supplements and treats for dogs, is giving out samples and running a pup cup station.
- Carmen Gonzalez, an NYC pet photographer, is taking free portraits of dogs and their families.
- Woofbowl is selling treats, with free treats for early arrivals.
Also at Domino Park on Sunday
The GrowNYC Greenmarket runs on Sundays at Domino Park through Nov. 22, so the farmers' stands are open the same day as the contest.
