The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is turning Abolitionist Place on Willoughby Street into a free Halloween party called BK Boo! on Friday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. It is open to all ages, costumes are encouraged, and dogs are invited too: the afternoon ends with a pet costume parade and contest.
What is on
The Partnership lists a two-hour program on the plaza:
- Music from DJ Mike for the whole afternoon.
- Face painting and balloon art for kids.
- Pumpkin decorating and Halloween games.
- Fortune telling.
- Stilt walkers moving through the crowd.
Everything is free.
The Pawrade
The pet costume parade and contest, run with the veterinary practice All Ears Vet, starts at 5 p.m. Owners who want their dog in the contest register in advance through the link on the Partnership's event page. Pets in costume who just want to watch are welcome too.
Where it is
Abolitionist Place is on Willoughby Street in the center of Downtown Brooklyn. The Partnership has been using the plaza for free public programming through the fall, including a lunchtime block party earlier this month; BK Boo! is its Halloween party.
The party runs the afternoon before Halloween itself, which falls on Saturday this year, and starts at 4 p.m., after the school day ends.
