The Apollo is turning its own history into a haunted house. Apolloween at The Apollo, an interactive haunted house built around the theater's legends, stories and legacy, takes over the Laura and Frank Baker Gallery on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. It is free with an RSVP.

A haunted house inside the Apollo

The Apollo describes the afternoon as an interactive haunted house experience that brings the theater's past to life. The gallery entrance is at 238 West 126th Street, and the two-hour window falls on Halloween afternoon, before dark.

Admission is free, but the Apollo asks visitors to reserve through the RSVP link on its event page.

Earlier that week: a costume screening at the Victoria

The Apollo's Halloween week also includes Melanin Madness: Vampire in Brooklyn, an interactive screening of the 1995 film, on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at The Apollo Stages at The Victoria. The night includes a costume contest, and an upgraded ticket adds what the Apollo calls its very first post-screening afterparty, with DJ Steph Cakes and Tina Twirler. Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster.

Half off for Harlem

The Apollo also runs Half Off for Harlem, an offer that gives Harlem residents, workers, business owners and students 50 percent off tickets to select performances. Details are on the Apollo's website.
