The walls of L'Appartement 4F, the French bakery at 115 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, are carrying a week-long show of restaurant drawings from Montréal. The prints come from John Donohue, the New York artist behind All the Restaurants, who draws restaurants by hand in ink. The display runs from Friday, Oct. 30, through Thursday, Nov. 5.

Special prints made for the show benefit City Harvest, the New York City food rescue organization.

A new city for a long-running project

Donohue's All the Restaurants project sells hand-drawn prints of restaurants city by city. He has published three books from it, All the Restaurants in New York, A Table in Paris and A Taste of London, and his collections also cover Napa Valley, Philadelphia, Chicago and Rome.

Montréal is the newest. According to Donohue, he was invited to the city in the summer of 2026 to draw its dining scene. The Montréal collection on his site holds 51 drawings, sorted by neighborhood: Chinatown, Downtown, the Golden Square Mile, Little Burgundy and others.

The collection includes Schwartz's Deli, Joe Beef, Au Pied de Cochon, Toqué!, Lester's Deli, La Banquise, Olive et Gourmando, Café Olimpico, Bouillon Bilk and Vin Mon Lapin, along with diners, bistros and a view of the city from Mount Royal.

The host bakery

L'Appartement 4F bakes hand-rolled croissants, slow-fermented sourdough and pastries at two shops, this one in Brooklyn Heights and a second at 119 West 10th Street in the West Village. The Montague Street shop also runs L'Apéro, a natural wine bar, out of the same space in the evenings, serving minimal-intervention wines with sourdough, local cheeses and French-inspired plates.

The bakery's hours on Montague Street are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. L'Apéro is open Wednesday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Buying a print

Prints from the Montréal collection are sold through the All the Restaurants website, where individual restaurant prints start at 55 dollars. The site links to the bakery for details on the City Harvest prints on display in Brooklyn Heights.
